Teachers have gotten a raise every year – however, that’s not the full picture. The year-to-year raises my opponent loves to flout is so minute that it doesn’t keep up with the increase in the cost of living, inflation, and the cost of covering classroom supplies out of pocket. The situation is dire and we must help our teachers by giving a raise. A bonus is nice, but it does not fix the systemic issues plaguing Arkansas’s teachers. Why not give both? Why are the rich – and their permanent tax cuts – more important than the folks who teach our children? When elected, I’ll fight for everyday folks including teachers – not the ultra rich or only the people who donate to me. Teachers deserve to be paid a living wage RIGHT NOW.
